The Moestuin festival was held last Saturday at the city theater. Every nook and cranny was used for this event. There were fashion shows, standup comedy, loads of music and foods to try from all over the world, all made by locals. Be it born and bred from Vlaardingen, or come over as refugee from Syria, all came together and organised it. Two local reviews (sorry, Dutch only): https://deschiedammeronline.nl/detail-uitdekunst/moestuin-festival-wordt-geprolongeerd https://www.vlaardingen24.nl/nl/nieuws/uit-cultuur/moestuin-theaterfestival-druk-bezocht/27469
I’ve always been in for a challenge, however when I was asked to photograph a dancefestival in a swimmingpool I didn’t say yes right away. I needed to find out if my gear would be up to it. As most of my gear is weathersealed I SHOULD be ok, and having read up on experiences of other people, I decided to say yes. Hot and humid is an understatement. Took at least half an hour to get my lenses used […]
While waiting for the interview to start, we found out that we would have 10 mins to chat with Cube. We were allowed to take photographs, but only in the backstage area and Cube wouldn’t leave the room. This pretty much eliminated my original idea of him in a hallway or sitting on the steps of some stairs. My writer tried to get as much info and questions in as he could in those ten minutes so I was getting […]
I love photographing unexpected events. Last week I was asked by the Kroepoekfabriek to keep my Saturday morning and afternoon to shoot an event on a special location. This location turned out to be the Elbe. A seaworthy tug boat built in 1959. Sidenote: I love sailing. The first few years of my life was spent on board of several ships where my dad was head engineer, and many a summer vacation was spent on board, well, as long as […]
A new year, a new publication and a new blog. Last Sunday a new edition of the “Sex, Drugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll High School” magazine was launched in Rotown, Rotterdam. SDRNRHS started life in 2007, and a new updated version was needed. The magazine’s audience is Dutch musicians. It’s published to give an inside look at how the Dutch music industry operates and sounds. It has some fantastic interviews and articles, has a “who’s who” and you can find […]
New site, new updates! New gear, new challenges to be met, more photo’s to take ! Although my site is a bit empty at the moment I am curating my best shots I’ve taken over the last year and adding them as soon as possible. I’m not much of a writer so news updates will be short and sweet.
Been a while since I’ve updated my site. Last few updates have been bundled in one post. Danko Jones, System of a Down. All can be found in the portfolio section.
New day, new photo’s (yes, that same old sentence) Rise Against added to PORTFOLIO, review on the OOR website (Dutch only). For the rest I’ve been quite busy with a new project coming out in the new year called Story Volumes. Site isn’t online yet but is dedicated to the stories of forward-thinking people who are focused on creativity, innovation and development. One week you might read about a talented artist, followed by an innovative start-up the next week and […]
New day, new photo’s! The OOR Review can be found here, sorry as usual, Dutch only. Papa Roach (and more) can be found HERE.
Probably the most fun I’ve had shooting a concert. Steel Panther shot for OOR Magazine. (Click OOR for the (dutch) review)
